The Health Benefits of Almonds and Almond Butter
Welcome to Roam, where we are all about providing wholesome, delicious, and high-quality food options for your every day adventures.
Understanding Almond Butter
Almond butter is a nutrient-dense food, packed with healthy fats, fibre, and protein. It’s also a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium, which are essential for overall health.
Our unique Energy Nut Butter takes this goodness a notch higher by integrating almonds with cashews. This fusion not only brings in the creamy texture of cashews but also their beneficial unsaturated fats and rich mineral content.
Moreover, we believe that variety is the spice of life! So, we offer Energy Nut Butter in three delicious flavours: Chocolate, Coconut, and Espresso. The Chocolate is a treat for all the choco-lovers out there, adding dairy-free chocolate to the nut butter mix. Coconut Energy Nut Butter is blended with toasted coconut chips, and Espresso is a bold mix of our nut butter blend and ground Brazilian coffee beans.
Common Questions About Almond Butter
Many often wonder, is it okay to eat almond butter every day? The answer, in short, is yes. Due to its rich nutrient profile, including a good balance of monounsaturated fats, almond butter can be a healthful addition to your daily diet, when consumed in moderation.
One might ask: Is almond butter a superfood? Well, considering its high content of heart-healthy fats, antioxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals, it certainly fits the bill.
What about almond butter's anti-inflammatory properties? Yes, almond butter is indeed anti-inflammatory. The monounsaturated fats and antioxidants in almond butter can help reduce inflammation in the body, supporting overall health.
As for its benefits for the skin, almond butter is rich in vitamins E and B2, both of which are known to help maintain healthy skin. Vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, can help protect your skin from oxidative stress, while B2 aids in maintaining collagen levels.
Lastly, the question about almond butter and weight management: does almond butter burn belly fat? While almond butter alone won't melt away belly fat, it can be part of a balanced diet that helps manage weight. Its high protein and fibre content can help you feel full and satisfied, reducing overeating. However, remember to consume it in moderation, as it's high in calories.
Almond Butter v. Peanut Butter and Butter
When considering health benefits, many people often ask: Is almond butter more healthy than peanut butter, or even regular butter?
Peanut butter is also rich in protein and healthy fats, much like almond butter. However, almond butter tends to have a slight edge in terms of fibre content and concentrations of certain vitamins and minerals. Almond butter is also typically lower in saturated fat, which is beneficial for heart health.
Compared to regular butter, almond butter is indeed a healthier choice. Regular butter, especially if it's not made from grass-fed cows, can be high in saturated fats and does not provide as many essential nutrients. On the other hand, almond butter offers healthy fats, proteins, and a variety of essential nutrients.
But which nut butter is the healthiest overall? Well, it largely depends on individual dietary needs and preferences. Almonds, cashews, and peanuts all have their unique nutritional profiles, and diversifying your intake could allow you to reap the benefits of each.
Another consideration is taste. We formulated Energy Nut Butter to get the best out of taste profile of almonds and cashews. When you're exercising or on-the-go, you want a product that does taste overwhelming or glue your tongue to the roof of your mouth!
After much trial and error, we settled on almonds and cashews for the best flavour combo and formulated it with coconut oil so that it wouldn't become a sticky mess!
Is Almond Butter a Processed Food?
"Processed food" refers to foods that have been altered in some way. This can range from simple processing such as cleaning, cutting and grinding, to more complex ones such as baking, fermenting or adding preservatives and other additives.
However, the term "processed" is often used in a negative context to refer to foods that have been heavily processed. These foods can often contain high levels of fat, sodium and sugar. They may also contain artificial ingredients or have had most of their beneficial nutrients stripped away during the processing.
Think of chocolate hazelnut spreads that you can buy in the supermarket. These usually have a main ingredient of sugar, followed by palm oil and skim milk powder.
At Roam, we ensure our Energy Nut Butter is minimally processed, maintaining as many nutrients from the original almonds and cashews as possible. We dry-roast our almonds and cashews and blend them together with coconut oil, salt and our three all-natural flavours, dairy-free chocolate, toasted coconut, and ground coffee. The main processing involved is grinding from a nut mill, which crushes the ingredients into a butter.
Crushing the nuts actually releases their healthy fats. This can actually make some of the nutrients more bioavailable, or easier for your body to absorb. For instance, the fat in nuts is necessary for the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, like vitamin E.
